The Educational Committee
has organized a children’s
Spanish program called “Tertulia para Niños”.
This program consists of 1 ½ hours of intermediate and advanced
Spanish language instruction. Participants are from 2 1/2 to 7
years old.
“Tertulia para Niños”offers each child the opportunity
to interact both socially and academically with other children
who share the same bicultural lives. In the classes, children participate
in games and activities related with Spanish culture.
The program is taught by parents, members of the association or any
person who is interested in participating. Different strategies and
methods are used, such as experimental learning and total physical
response activities.
At the moment we are working with parents in the creation of the
curriculum. We would like to design this curriculum around the
different “Comunidades
Autónomas”.
“Tertulia para Niños” is held on Saturdays
morning between 10:30 and 12:00 at Pelayo’s ( 7601 Greenwood
Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98103).
We started this program January 21 and it will be finished in August
26. During the months of June, July and August “Tertulia
para Niños” will be in different parks in
Seattle. When we decide the specific locations we will inform people
through our this page.
The price of the program is $25 for members and $50 for non- members.
In addition to the children’s program, we are planning to
offer cooking and guitar classes in the future.
